In ear monitoring is the modern musician's secret weapon. Almost all professional artists rely on IEMs, not only to ensure they can always hear clearly, but also to enable the synchronisation of lighting, audio visual and other musical elements in their performances. As digital mixing technology has marched forward, it's become increasingly accessible to any size of act that wants to take monitoring into their own hands…
…but it's kinda complicated, and that's where I can help.
Whether you just need some basic buying and setup advice, or want a complete system build including full documentation, training for your band, click track and backing track production and on-going support, I can help.
What mixer do I need? How do I split my inputs for front of house? What do I tell the sound guy? Do I need a laptop? How can I sync DMX lighting? How do I run my click and backing tracks… or for that matter how do I make them?
There are no one size fits all answers to these questions, and mistakes or misunderstandings can be costly in time and money. If you want to commit to IEMs, you need a rig that just works, that you and your band-mates can learn and practice with, as much an instrument in itself as a piece of technology.
My name is Chris, and I'm in love with music technology (so much so, I have a bachelor's degree to prove it). I'm also a control systems engineer with over 10 years' experience designing, building & maintaining complex, integrated systems. On top of all that, I'm also just a massive nerd for in ear monitoring, and have spent far too much of my own time delving into the depths of the many related questions while working on several iterations of my band's own IEM rig.
I'm passionate about helping musicians get the most out of their performances by simplifying the process of operating in ear monitor systems, and I would be stoked to have the opportunity to help you out.
I'm based in Brisbane Australia, servicing the Sunshine Coast through to the Gold Coast. Remote consultation as well as build and ship services are available to other areas.
A complete, pro-grade IEM rig won't come cheap, but I'm happy to work with your budget and provide as much or as little support as you require.
